AT HALF

I open my eyes and here I am. Smack dab in the middle of the year. When did the time go and did it take my phone charger on the way out? The minutes are just not long enough anymore. This month has been a huge transition month for me but we’ll get to that in a bit. As someone who strives to be the most optimum or an undiagnosed perfectionist, I am always questioning if I could do more. No, this isn’t another read about self doubt or insecurities but stick with me.

This month has been a huge transition period for me. After a year and a half with a great run, I left the Philip Tour. That company gave me the experience of a lifetime. Whether at Yvonne’s in Boston, in swimming pools in Florida, the mountains of Alaska or with the best at Queen in Chicago. I witnessed some of the most powerful, electric and authentic performances with that company and I will hold the memories in my bloodstream forever. What is living if you only strive for comfort. The most growth occurs when you confront your discomforts. I transitioned into working with a brand new company which comes with equal parts excitement and anxiety. I am not a morning person! Some people are and all we can do is pray for them. Even in college, I scheduled all my classes after double digits hit the clock. The first week is over half finished and the process is making me nothing but stronger.

Imagine the sun at its highest in the middle of June in NYC. I offer you a cup full of water. Knowing that the cup only offers the opportunity to be nourished. Holding onto the cup concerned that you won’t be offered another won’t stop you from sweating. Is the answer drinking only half, persevering the other half to be warmed by the sun? Is chugging all the contents of this cup the answer that provides the most opportunity or just a win in a burping contest? The fear of lack or being without keeps you from being nourished or simply stops you from taking the next step forward. Whether your glass is half full or half empty, the path to more is forward. What will you do with the other half of this year? Hopefully, take a chance.

To color something clear is to reimagine coloring as we know it.
